Welcome to Forethought UK

May I welcome you to our Forethought Website.

Here we will tell you about our services and how we can help you plan for the events of the future and ease the pain and pressure on those left behind.

PLEASE CLICK ON ONE OF THE LINKS TO THE RIGHT OF THIS SECTION AND YOU WILL BE TAKEN DIRECTLY TO THAT PAGE.  ALTERNATIVELY, SCROLL DOWN THIS PAGE.  Thanks.

What do we do?

Only two things are certain – life and death.

So much planning and preparation goes on in life, that often death is just “thrown together” at the end, when family and friends are in disarray and emotionally drained.

An average wedding or birthday celebration receives more planning and thought than the funeral and remembrance of the deceased.

Forethought TM offers you the chance to help your loved ones, to plan your funeral in whichever style or way you wish.

This is not a pre-payment scheme, no bonds or pre-payments are taken from you. We consult with you prior to your death so that we can give you our full attention and pre-funeral planning services to help you and your loved ones at a very emotional time in the future.

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

You will contact us here at Forethought TM and we will make an appointment for one of our team to visit or contact you and discuss your thoughts and wishes for your funeral arrangements.

We have a pro-forma of items on which we need input from you such as, do you wish to have a religious or non-religious service? Do you wish to have flowers or not? There are many questions like these that will need to be answered but, it is not a long and tedious process.

We will also need names and addresses of your loved ones and next of kin, and details of any body part donor schemes you belong to or wish to join.

Your wishes will then be collated and transferred into your Wishes Document TM and this is prepared and forwarded on to you for checking and approval. If this meets with your requirements, we will arrange for the document to be engrossed and three copies forwarded to you for your safekeeping.

If you would like to make any amendments at the draft stage this is, of course, possible and the document will only be engrossed when you are fully satisfied that the contents reflect your wishes.

WHERE DO I KEEP THE WISHES DOCUMENT?

As part of the package, we will supply you with three copies of your Wishes Document TM.

We will not, for reasons of confidentiality, retain copies of your document ourselves either in paper or electronic (computer) format.

It is suggested that you discuss your Wishes Document TM with your loved ones and retain one copy safely at home where they know where to find it, if necessary. A further copy should be filed with your Will and the final copy, perhaps with your Solicitor, Bank or other Professional. Of course, as with all of this, the choice is yours.

You may find that after a while, you wish to change your Wishes Document TM. This is not a problem, contact us and have a copy of your original Document available and we will make all necessary amendments for you. This is part of our updating service and can be carried out at any time.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Our service offers:

i. Initial consultation with client

ii. Discussing options available

iii. Preparation of draft Wishes Document TM

iv. Engrossment of agreed Wishes Document TM

v. One update in a twelve month period from date of instruction

Funeral Services Brochure

1ang056 We are making arrangements to publish a Funeral Services Brochure which, we hope, will be regionalised ie. a brochure listing services for it's respective regional location.

Many firms and individuals who provide services that are suitable for funerals are being contacted and details collated and compiled into the brochure.

It is also hoped to have an online version in the near future also, which will cut costs of producing hard copy brochures to different locations.

If you have a particular supplier, either firm or individual, who you would like to recommend to us, please email us at forethought@hotmail.co.uk with full details and the reasons why you are recommending the supplier.  We will then make an independent assessment of their services and, if suitable, we will include them in our database.

Grave Tending & Flower Placement

Another of our services is Graveside Tending and Flower Placement.

  • We will visit the grave of your loved one
  • Clean and tidy the grave area and memorial
  • Water and feed any plants
  • Clean any flower vases
  • We will leave a small posy of flowers - unless you ask us to purchase and leave a floral tribute on your behalf
  • We will also undertake any other tasks for the grave that you may request
  • Digital photographs are taken before and after our visit and supplied to you either via email or by post, as required with a report of work done

Our reasonable charges for this service are available on request - taking into account travel and time taken.

Funeral Planning

When a loved one passes away, there seem to be so many things which have to be done, and all in a comparatively short space of time.  Most important of all is the registration of the death which MUST be carried out within 5 days of death.  Then there is the visit to the Funeral Director to make arrangements there, the florist, the Church, the Minister or Celebrant, the Crematorium or Cemetry, the venue for the wake or reception, the caterers and so much more. We can offer you our skills and experience to ease these pressures.

You may feel it would still be advisable to consult a Funeral Director to complete the necessary legal paperwork.  However, we are familiar with the process following your registration of the death and we are able to complete this with you if you require or, you may wish to do it yourself at home.  There is no obligation in English Law to consult a Funeral Director if you do not wish to do so.

If you would like our assistance with any aspect of the funeral planning, we would be more than happy to assist you for example:

  • Floral Tributes
  • Coffins and Caskets
  • Vicar/Priest/Minister - any denomination
  • Orders of Service
  • Placement of Obituarys
  • Hymns, Music and/or Songs
  • Poetry and Readings
  • Photographs and Videos
  • Venue for your Funeral Wake/Reception/Tea
  • Providing a themed "send off" - according to yours and/or the deceased's wishes
  • Books of Condolence
  • Prayer and Thank You Cards
  • Memorial Bookmarks and other stationery/printed items
  • Memorial Service

.. anything else?  Just ask - we are happy to help you.

Memorial Services

Lillies1 We can also help you arrange a unique Memorial Service for your loved one.  There is no specific format requirement for Memorial services, they should be as unique as the individual they celebrate.

The only rule about a Memorial Service is that it should provide a loving and positive memory of the deceased.  People are often unsure about using humour or even lively music.  We would say that if these things reflect the life of the deceased, it's fine to use them - they can add wonderful moments to the service.

Contact us at Forethought TM to find out more about this service.
